Five injured in two-bakkie collision with an elephant

ER24 and other services arrived on the scene at 19h46 on Wednesday night to find an elephant lying in the road.

Five people were injured when two bakkies collided with an elephant on the R71, approximately 4km outside Gravelotte, Limpopo.

Two bakkies were found a short distance away, roughly 50 meters apart.

ER24 reports that on closer assessments, medics found that four men and a woman had sustained minor to moderate injuries.

“The patients were treated and later transported to nearby hospitals, including Mediclinic Tzaneem, for further care.”

Unfortunately, the elephant succumbed to its injuries.”

Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
