Mark Pilgrim, 53, was battling stage four lung cancer.
In a statement on Sunday morning HOT 102.7 FM confirmed the news of Pilgrim’s passing.
“It was with great sadness that I share this news. Our hero and brother and much loved radio personality Mark Pilgrim lost his battle with cancer this morning at 10:45.”
HOT 102.7 FM said the radio presenter passed peacefully with his fiancé Adrienne at home.
“They were together for his last breath.”
Mark, a former Valie who matriculated at HS Sasolburg in 1986, was diagnosed with Stage 3 testicular cancer in 1988. It was an aggressive cancer that also spread to his kidneys and lungs.
After nine months of chemotherapy, Mark was in remission for 33 years, until he was diagnosed with cancer again in February 2022.
Ah, Mark…..
You put up a very brave & public fight against cancer.
Inspirational. Sadly the dread disease has claimed another victim. I'm going to miss you big time, baldy. Gone too soon. Heartfelt condolences to Mark's daughters, family and fiancee.#RIPMarkPilgrim#FCancer— Alex Jay (@AlexJayZA) March 5, 2023
