Sologamist renews wedding vows

Woman celebrates three years of married life (with herself) at lion's den

VANDERBIJLPARK. – Well-known local sologamist Rita Woodall-Terblanche had the tongues wagging when she married herself back in 2019.

Ever since her controversial marriage Rita has been renewing the wedding vows, she made to herself annually on her wedding anniversary.

This year Rita chose Animal World at the Emerald Casino as the place to renew her wedding vows.

On a wooden walkway, overlooking the lions’ den Rita declared: “Hereby I, Rita Woodall-Terblanche, promise to keep on loving myself, to honour myself, to respect myself and above all to really care about my health better.

“I understand that it starts and ends with yourself.”

According to Rita she chose to perform the annual ritual at the lions’ den as Leo (the lion) is her star sign and she identifies with Daniel from the Bible who was cast into the lion’s den and was saved by God.

Rita, a woman who years ago was a victim of abuse, explained last year that her marriage to herself helped her to deal with the trauma and find self-forgiveness.

She added that 2022 was a challenging year for her.

Rita says she became very ill in April and was bound to a wheelchair for days. She thanked everyone who prayed for her and supported her during this time.
