It is Wafa Wafa time: MTN 8 Semifinals

The MTN8 Cup, otherwise known as the Wafa Wafa Cup promises fireworks this weekend as Orlando Pirates will host the defending Champions, Mamelodi Sundowns in the first leg semifinals of this competition at Orlando Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

SEDIBENG.- This much anticipated encounter promises fire works with Orlando Pirates hoping to stamp their authority as they play the fist leg at their home ground. Sundowns are the defending champions of the MTN8 Cup and they will leave no stone unturned in an attempt to defend their title, which they won last year.

Former Orlando Pirates Captain, Lucky Lekgwathi, who is also an MTN8 ambassador told Sedibeng Ster Sport that his former team will emerge victorious come tomorrow afternoon. Lekgwathi and former Kaizer Chiefs defender Fabian McCarthy visited Sedibeng Ster Sport on Thursday as part of MTN8 Cup nationwide tour ahead of this interesting encounter. To make this encounter even interesting, former Mamelodi Sundowns striker Kermit “Romeo” Erasmus who was recently signed by Pirates will face his former team. Lekgwathi told Sedibeng Ster Sport that this is a big signee for Orlando Pirates, and he believes Erasmus will add value to Pirates. The two played together at Pirates and Lekgwathi said Erasmus was a missing linking to Pirates’ striking force.

“I think Erasmus is what Pirates needed because the club was struggling in front of goals. We all know what he is capable of and I have no doubt that he will deliver like he did the previous time, when I was still his captain.”

Kaizer Chiefs will welcome Amazulu in another second first leg of semi-finals at FNB Stadium on Sunday.
