Cops raid local schools!

Weapons, dagga and other drugs found during search

SEBOKENG – Sebokeng cops stormed several local schools in their precinct for an announced random search.

The search came after principals complained that learns are bringing weapons in school premises.

On Wednesday morning, Sebokeng copshop under the command of Brigadier Elias Mokoena activated a multidisciplinary operation including other stakeholders.

The full joint operation comprising of various law enforcement agencies and different saps units’ joint hand to give their services too.

Sebokeng police spokesman Captain Teboho Lephoto said the objective of the operation is to create a safe and secure environment in and around schools.

“During the search dagga, pair of scissors not prescribed by the school, knives, steel pipe, cough mixture mixed cool drink were discovered. No learner was arrested during the search. This programme will continue until the school safety vision is reached,” he said.

Brigadier Mokoena commended the work done during the search and emphasized that the searches will continue in many other schools situated in his precinct.

“It’s a step on the right direction and we witnessed firsthand what the educators were complaining about. Through the exercise we managed to achieve good successes. This shows that there is a need for such operations in schools and we going to continue with it,” he said.

Mokoena said the searches will also help to curb the mushrooming stabbings, murders, ill-discipline and bulling in schools.

“I welcome the gesture and will engage more principals to see how we can help more schools,” he said.
