Vaal’s unknown young star in Carling All-Stars team

"I'm speechless because I didn't expect this to happen so soon in my football career."

SEBOKENG.- Young, local star, Naledi Hlongwane made history when he was voted into the Carling Black Label All-Stars final team.

The Carling All-Stars team will face Magesi FC in the final of the Carling Black Label Cup today.

This much anticipated game is scheduled to take place at Orlando Stadium. Kick-off time is 15:00. Last year’s All-star team played against Stellenbosch.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, the forward of the Kaizer Chiefs DSTV Diski Challenge (DDC) team was excited to be part of the final team. Hlongwane said it was a surprise to be among unknown youngsters who accumulated several votes to be part of the team.

“I don’t know what to say. I’m speechless because I didn’t expect this to happen so soon in my football career. I want to thank everyone who took the time to vote for me. This means a lot to me, and I will cherish this moment for the rest of my football career.”

Hlongwane is part of six DDC players who have been voted for the All-Stars team.

This Sebokeng-born star started his football career playing for Nale Academy before he joined Kaizer Chiefs development. He was also part of SA U17 National Team for the COSAFA Tournament that was cancelled due to COVID-19.
