Two Vanderbijlpark detectives secure major convictions

Vanderbijlpark SAPS celebrates two major convictions secured by a duo of seasoned detectives.

VANDERBIJLPARK – A duo of seasoned detectives from Vanderbijlpark policing precinct secured hefty sentences for two murder cases they were investigating.

Despite the wheels of justice turning slowly, both officers have proved perseverance pays off.

This comes after Sergeant Michael Ntephe was able to secure a 20-year prison sentence for Thapelo Radebe, an African male accused of murder.

According to a police statement, Radebe’s case stemmed from an incident that occurred at Vaal Mall where a security officer mistakenly shot Radebe during a money delivery at an ATM.

The victim who was wrongly suspected of being a robber was shot and killed at point blank.

Following a meticulous investigation, Ntephe led the suspect to receive 20 years behind bars.

Speaking to Ster, Ntephe expressed his satisfaction with the outcome of the court emphasising how the lengthy investigation was well worth the wait.

“It’s always a relief when justice prevails, no matter how long it takes,” he said.

In another breakthrough, Sergeant Johnny Tsotetsi also secured a good conviction sending African male, Lucky Mlaza to prison for 10 years.

Mlaza was found guilty of stabbing a man to death after being confronted by community members about selling drugs to minors.

Tsotetsi’s thorough investigation ensured that justice was served.

The two successful convictions have been hailed as an important milestone in the fight against crime for the station.

Station Commander Brigadier Phiwe Ndwandwe applauded the detectives for their dedication and hard work, stating “This is a clear message to criminals: we are here to fight crime and ensure that justice is done. Our community deserves safety, and we will not rest until all perpetrators are brought to book.”
