All white draws massive crowds

Thousands came out to witness their local and national musicians during the Kgalala All White recently.

VANDERBIJLPARK – Thousands of festival attendees gathered at Kgalala Resort on the outskirts of Vanderbijlpark over the weekend.

This comes after the resort, part of the Vaal River Carnival (VRC) organised by Emfuleni Local Municipality held its sixth instalment of the all-white party.

Dressed in their stylish white angelic attire, patrons enjoyed music from different performers including Big Zulu, Vusi Nova, and DJ Young among many other disc jockeys.

Speaking to Ster South, Ntsika Zulu said: “I’m a huge fan of Big Zulu, and getting the opportunity to see him in my backyard led me to attend this all-white. The performance was spectacular, and I wouldn’t mind attending this event again.”

Another patron, Sizwe Shabangu said: “I heard about the Vaal River Carnival launch, and the all-white caught my attention. As a first-time person to attend events under the banner of VRC, I enjoyed this well-organised event.”

During the media launch of the VRC, the MMC for Agriculture, Local Economic Development, Planning and Tourism, Mbuyiselo Kantso, said: “The purpose of the programme this year is to provide the product owners and the municipality with the desired platform to market and promote the area as a tourism destination of choice.

This programme has been located within the Heritage and Tourism Month celebrations and therefore celebrates the rich history, culture, heritage, and leisure that this region has to offer as well as promote social cohesion.”

“Our motivation is to invest more time to plan successful VRC programmes year after year. Economic spin-offs are derived from staging VRC events as sales increase on food, alcohol, and accommodation among many other issues,” he said.

While many claimed to have enjoyed the show at Kgalala, it looks like Kantso’s statement played out in real life.
