Traffic officers’ quarrel ends in murder-suicide

Murder and inquest dockets investigation underway following a fatal shooting in De Deur over the weekend.

DE DEUR – A domestic dispute took a deadly turn when two traffic officers died on August 17.

According to information at Ster’s disposal, police received a complaint about a shooting incident in Debonair Park, De Deur.

On arrival, two bodies were found lying on the street. The male was riddled with four bullet wounds to his chest, and the woman had a fatal gunshot wound to her head.

Police insiders said the woman shot and killed her lover following a heated quarrel, and later turned the gun on herself.

The couple was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

Eight bullet casings were found at the scene next to the bodies.

The couple had spent the day attending a funeral and later joined mourners at an after-tears gathering.

Sedibeng Cluster police spokesperson Captain Teboho Lephoto confirmed the incident.

“We can confirm that the De Deur police are investigating a murder and inquest after the two traffic officers were found dead,” he said.
