Two young diplomats headed to Turkey

Speaking to Ster North about the upcoming trip, mentor and deputy principal Florence Mabula from Sicelo Primary School said she is extremely proud of her two mentees.

MIDVAAL – Clement Heqoa (18) together with his peer Teboho Mabaso (17) from New Hope Secondary School will be among delegates from various countries headed to the Best Diplomats event in Turkey in October.

This is after the two matriculants were honoured with the ‘Best Delegates’ award when they represented South Africa at the recent Intercontinental Youth Connect Model United Nations held in Pretoria.

The event was attended by delegates from Tunisia, Zambia, Zimbabwe, South Sudan, Mauritius, Malawi and Tanzania.

During the event, Heqoa and Mabaso mitigated issues of diplomatic significance under the theme: Sustainability, growth, and development of youth entrepreneurs in Africa.

Speaking to Ster North about the upcoming trip, mentor and deputy principal Florence Mabula from Sicelo Primary School said she is extremely proud of her two mentees.

Mabula says: “I am very proud of the two delegates. I have no doubt that they will return home with new-found wisdom, inspiration, and a broader perspective on the world. They are capable, talented, and deserving of this experience.”

Heqoa and Mabaso have expressed gratitude for the positive impact Mabula has had on their lives. “With the upcoming trip, we hope to hone our diplomatic skills and broaden our global connections,” they said.
