Vanderbijlpark police welcomes new station commander

The new sheriff in town has landed, and ready to hit the ground running in fighting crime in the Vanderbijlpark precinct.

VANDERBIJLPARK – The Vanderbijlpark Police Station recently introduced their newly appointed station commander, Brigadier Phiwe Ndwandwe.

After a period of transition, the station is now under his capable leadership.

With an impressive 32 years of service in the South African Police Service (SAPS), Ndwandwe is no stranger to the challenges and responsibilities that come with maintaining law and order.

Ndwandwe’s resume boasts a National Diploma in Policing obtained in 1999, a B-Tech degree in Policing acquired in 2000, and a BA degree in Policing Practice completed in 2010.

His academic credentials are matched by a career that spans across various key roles and extensive managerial experience.

Ndwandwe has consistently demonstrated his dedication to community safety and crime reduction throughout his career.

His career path has seen him as the acting station commander at SAPS Elsburg, the visible section commander at SAPS Orange Farms, and as the station commander at SAPS Heidelberg.

Most recently, he served as the acting station commander at SAPS Vanderbijlpark before officially stepping into his new role.

On Tuesday, Ndwandwe was officially welcomed to his new role following a mini-celebratory event held at the district cluster offices.

Speaking to Ster on the sidelines of the event, Ndwandwe said he was ready to hit the ground.

“I can assure the community that we will work together in making sure that we reduce crime in the area. I’ve planned several community engagements to understand the problems in the district. My office is always open to the community,” he said.

“I’m very hard on crime, especially drugs and liquor. You’ll see me on the streets more,” he said.

Sedibeng Cluster Commissioner Major General Nkhensani Lemba welcomed his appointment.

“We need to celebrate these milestones as it is not common to have committed officers working their way to the top. When the time is right, the Lord will make it happen. Hard work always pays off, and Ndwandwe is one of the people who’s working hard in this district and we are happy to retain him,” she said.
