Man allegedly stabs wife to death in Zamdela

A 46-year-old man is set to appear at Sasolburg Magistrate Court tomorrow following the murder of his wife.

ZAMDELA. – Tragedy struck in Zamdela outside Sasolburg on Sunday evening when a heated argument turned deadly leaving a 39-year-old woman brutally stabbed to death allegedly by her husband.

According to police reports, the couple had an altercation that escalated into violence.

Following the argument, Florence Sekhampu (39) was found unresponsive with a fatal stab wound to her upper body when police received a complaint and attended to the scene.

Emergency services were also summoned to the scene. Sekhampu was declared dead upon their arrival.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, Fezile Dabi District police spokesperson Sergeant Josephine Rani confirmed the incident.

“On Sunday July 28 at about 18:00, police received a complaint of murder from the Walter Sisulu section in Zamdela. Upon arrival, they were pointed to the lifeless body of the lady identified as Florence Sekhampu. The deceased sustained a stab wound on the upper body and was declared dead by emergency services.”.

Rani said that a 46-year-old man was arrested at the scene.

“The murder weapon was confiscated, and the suspect is now behind bars. He will appear in the Sasolburg Magistrate Court on Wednesday,” said Rani.
