Man shot and killed during robbery in Boipatong

Boipatong police are investigating a murder case after a man was shot and killed in the early hours of Monday.

BOIPATONG – A peaceful morning in Boipatong turned deadly when an alleged commuter was shot and killed on Monday, 22 July.

According to police, the victim, whose identity has not been officially released pending family notification, was on his way to Frikkie Meyer to catch a taxi to Sasolburg, where he was employed.

Initial reports from the scene showed the deceased was discovered with a gunshot wound to his left chest just near Jet Nteo School of Specialization.

The lifeless body of the murdered man was found a knife gripped in his hand, stained with blood, seemingly suggesting a desperate struggle or a failed attempt at self-defense.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, Boipatong police spokesperson Sergeant Thembeka Maxambela said a murder case is being investigated following the incident.

The spokesperson added that the belongings of the deceased including his bag, were scattered nearby and his wallet missing.

Following the gruesome murder, Maxambela urged anyone with information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to come forward and assist in bringing the perpetrators to justice
