Former radioman turned entrepreneur dies in horrific car crash

Sasolburg community is mourning the death of a philanthropist and a popular radioman following a car crash that took his life.

SASOLBURG – Popular radioman now turned entrepreneur, Thabo Beleng tragically lost his life in a devastating car accident on June 25th.

According to a family spokesperson, the crash occurred in the Sasolburg Central Business District (CBD) just near KFC when Beleng together with his team were returning from a funeral in Potchefstroom.

Ramaja Beleng, the family spokesman told Sedibeng Ster that Beleng was among one other passenger who perished in the accident, Maria Makoa.

The news of duo’s passing spread rapidly through social media, leaving families in shock and disbelief.

“We learned about my brother’s death through social media posts. After seeing the posts, we rushed to a local hospital to confirm the news. Unfortunately, we found that the online reports were true,” said Ramaja.

“According to the statement from the driver, a car which was travelling in front of them hit a dead break, they had to swerve to the slow lane, only to find there was oil and water on the road, that’s how they lost control and rolled over,” he said.

Ramaja said his brother died on the scene while the other victim died in hospital and the others were injured.

“We are devastated because we didn’t expect that Thabo will die in this manner. Our family had still anticipated so much from him, more especially because his future was starting to shape up,” said the grieving brother.

Describing his brother, Ramaja said Thabo was a well-respected figure in the community, known for his vibrant personality and dedication to his work both on and off the air.

“All he ever lived for was making a difference in the community. He always helped people, even with his last money, he would rather help those in need than use what he had. It’s hard to accept that he’s gone. It all feels like a terrible dream,” he said.
