Former UCT Vice-Chancellor graced education sunday

Sasolburg was abuzz as former UCT Vice-Chancellor visited one of the churches during the popular education sunday.

SASOLBURG – The City of Love and Restoration Full Gospel Church in Sasolburg was abuzz with excitement as it held its annual Education Sunday Service.

The “Education Sunday Service” is an admired tradition in Sasolburg, drawing prominent figures each year to inspire and honour local graduates.

Last year, the event was graced by Mxolisi Dukwana, Premier of the Free State, while in 2022, MEC of Finance Gadija Brown was in attendance.

Led by Reverend Thabiso Mashiloane, the event continues to celebrate educational achievements and honour the hard work of recent graduates.

This year, the congregation was privileged to host Professor Mamokgethi Phakeng, the former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Town, as the keynote speaker.

Several other speakers such as Musanda Nkateko, a popular motivational speaker graced the event.

Gathered in their dozens, and dressed in their gowns, graduates were honoured and showered with gifts.

Delivering her keynote address, Professor Phakeng captivated the audience with her compelling insights on education and the power it holds to transform lives and communities.

Drawing from her illustrious career and personal experiences, she emphasized the critical role of education in fostering growth and opportunity.

Reflecting on the event’s success, Reverend Mashiloane remarked, “Each year, this service brings us together to celebrate not just the achievements, but the potential within our community. It is a reminder of the power of education to uplift and transform lives.”
