Bhekani Dube sentenced to 30 years imprisonment

Dube, a foreign national is facing 30 years imprisonment following crimes he commited in 2020 and 2022.

SEDIBENG. – A 36-year-old man has been sentenced to 30 years for carjacking, kidnapping, and house robbery.

According to Sedibeng Police, Bhekani Dube’s crimes took place in 2020 and 2022 in Evaton and Orange Farm policing precincts.

In a statement, Sedibeng police spokesman Captain Teboho Lephoto announced that the South African Police Service Management in the region welcomed the significant conviction and sentencing of an illegal foreigner named Bhekani Bongani Dube.

“Dube was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment for house robbery and illegal immigration, and an additional 15 years for carjacking and kidnapping, at Vereeniging Magistrate’s Court.”

Lephoto continued: “This follows his commission of these crimes in Evaton and Orange Farm in 2020. A thorough investigation was launched, and a seasoned detective from the district investigation team was appointed to lead the inquiry. The detectives diligently pursued all leads until the suspect was apprehended and charged.”

In a further development, District Commander Major-General Nkhensani Lemba commended the detectives for their diligence and perseverance in securing the successful conviction. “The Sedibeng District Investigators are among the finest in Gauteng SAPS Detectives and are recognised for their outstanding performance and dedication in the Province,” she stated.
