WATCH: Three suspects rob heavy-armed cash guards at Arcon Park Shopping Centre

A normal cash delivery at Arcon Park Shopping Centre turned into dramatic scenes when three armed suspects disarmed and robbed cash guards in broad daylight.

VEREENIGING. – Gauteng police have activated a manhunt in pursuit of a trio of suspects involved in an armed robbery that took place at Arcon Park Shopping Centre on Friday, March 15.

This comes after three African males ambushed a crew of a  cash management company who were in the process of delivering and offloading cash to an ATM facility at the complex.

Following the brazen robbery, the trio made off with an undisclosed amount of money, firearms, including a rifle, and a handgun belonging to the guards and ammunition before fleeing the scene in a white Audi Q3.

Social media went abuzz after a footage depicting what occurred at the moments of the brazen act captured by the centre’s CCTV cameras was shared on various platforms.

In a one-minute and twenty-nine-second video, one security personnel could be seen idlingly pulling a drop safe before entering the ATM facility.

While the other guard watches, one of the suspects brandishing a firearm, ambushed the guard and pushed him to the ground, before forcibly snatching his rifle.

Two other suspects quickly followed suit, trapping the other guard inside the ATM.

Moments later, the trio could be seen leaving the complex, rushing to their getaway car parked outside the premises.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, Gauteng provincial police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Amanda van Wyk confirmed that investigations are underway to trace and arrest the suspects.

“According to a preliminary report, the crew of a cash management company were in the process of delivering and offloading cash to an ATM facility in the area when they were accosted by three armed suspects,” she said.

“The suspects robbed the cash vanguards of their firearms, a rifle and a handgun, ammunition, and an undisclosed amount of money before they fled the scene in a white Audi Q3,” said Van Wyk.

Van Wyk further urged “Anyone that has information that may assist in the investigation is urged to contact their nearest police station, SAPS Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or alternatively leave an anonymous tip-off on the MySAPS App.”
