Celta Vigo suffers 3-2 defeat

EVATON NORTH.- Celta Vigo Academy kicked their heels in frustration after they suffered an unexpected 3-2 defeat at the hands of Mmabatho FC.

This Safa Sedibeng Regional Holly words game which was attended by a handful of soccer fans took place at Qedilizwe ground in Evaton on Saturday. Mmabatho came back twice after the home team took the lead on two occasions. However, Celta Vigo is self to blame for this defeat as they created better scoring opportunities compared to their opponents. Coach Themba Dlamini was kicking his heels in frustration as his side continued to miss clear-cut chances.

But having said this, the local soccer fans enjoyed every moment of action with both sides playing attractive football. Mmabatho FC Head Coach, Mvula “Sebapadi” Tshabalala was also frustrated by his players, and in the second half he was forced to make changes, bringing in manpower up front and he was rewarded.

It was a ‘smash and grab’ kind of win for Mmabatho when their substitute scored the winning goal with less than 10 minutes before the end of the game much to the heartbreak of Celta Vigo’s supporters.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Tshabalala said, it was a hard-fought three points for his team.

“We deserved to win this game because we have been playing well but our biggest challenge is to convert our chances into goals. I’m happy today we won against very stubborn opponents who know how to play,” said Tshabalala.
