Eight teams’ six-a-side Tournament

"Some of us ended up doing the wrong things because of pure pressure from our friends."

SEBOKENG.- It was a fun-filled day when the Emfuleni Local Football Association’s (ELFA) Junior League Administrator, Kelebogile Sehume hosted the ‘Messiah wa di six-a-side street soccer’, at Voda-Park in Zone 3 on Saturday.

The tournament featured eight teams.

This eight teams’ tournament was sponsored by the Master Zondo Sports Foundation which donated soccer balls, trophies, and medals. Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Sehume said that the main objective of this initiative was to bring people together. He told Sedibeng Ster Sport that the main aim was to create awareness of the usage of banned substances.

It was a fun-filled day with Gorillas and Lakeside Future Stars battling it out in the final. Stars FC were crowned the tournament champions after they beat makeshift Gorillas FC 2-0. This final produced fireworks with both teams’ player showcasing their God-given talent.

Speaking to  Sedibeng Ster Sport after the tournament, Sehume said, “Look it is not a secret that we as young people are faced with a lot of challenges. This tournament was meant to create awareness through football because we all know that sports play an important role in our society. I want to thank everyone who came to support this initiative. We had a great day doing what we love which is playing football.

He also thanked the Master Zondo Sports Foundation management for their generosity towards the development of football.

” I also want to thank the Zone 3 community for coming in numbers to support this tournament,” said Sehume. Master Zondo who is the founder of Master Zondo Sports Foundation was full of praise for what Sehume has done for the Zone 3 community.

This is what he said to Sedibeng Ster Sport, “The tournament was a huge success and I was overwhelmed by the talent I saw today and I have no doubt that some of these players qualify to be registered in our league.  The community of Zone 3 was very excited about this initiative. I’m very proud of Kelebogile, he is a young man with a vision.”

Meanwhile, Zondo revealed to Sedibeng Ster Sport that this coming week they will be focusing on registering the players for the league which is scheduled to kick off next month.
