Vereeniging police station commended for excellence

Vereeniging SAPS station commander Brigadier Sibongile Ndaba attributes the success to changes implemented at the station in response to various requests from the public.

VEREENIGING. – The Vereeniging Police Station achieved a remarkable feat by securing the third position at the recent South African Police Service (SAPS) 9th edition National Excellence Awards, held on Friday, February 16, at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand.

These awards aim to acknowledge the outstanding performance of employees, reservists, Community Police Forum (CPF) structures, and stations that have demonstrated excellence, dedication, and extraordinary commitment during the 2022/2023 financial year.

This achievement follows the station’s first-place rankings in both the Sedibeng District and the Gauteng province, respectively. On Wednesday, February 22, the station commander, Brigadier Sibongile Ndaba, presented the award to the officers at the Vereeniging SAPS, expressing gratitude for their hard work and dedication.

Ndaba attributed the success directly to the changes implemented at the station in response to various requests from the public. She commended the officers for their tireless efforts in fulfilling their mandate of serving and protecting residents.

“These awards are not just a testament to the Vereeniging SAPS; they also recognise the invaluable contributions of our stakeholders who consistently partner with us whenever the need arises,” Ndaba remarked.

Expressing appreciation for these stakeholders, Ndaba thanked various security companies, the Community Policing Forum (CPF), Crime Prevention Wardens (CPW), and the Vereeniging taxi fraternity for their collaborative efforts in combating crime in the area.

“We are committed to providing a service, and feedback from the community, whether positive or negative, is invaluable. It helps us identify areas for improvement so we can continue to fulfil our mandate effectively,” she added.

Ndaba emphasised the station’s dedication to intensifying community engagements and announced plans to collaborate more closely with farmers to eradicate crime in their respective areas.
