Suspect arrested following business robbery in Boipatong

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, Maxambela reports that two employees were sleeping inside the business premises when they heard a noise on the roof.

BOIPATON. – The police in Boipatong are probing a business robbery involving three armed suspects.

According to police spokesperson Sergeant Thembeka Maxambela, the incident happened in the early hours of the morning of February 22.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, Maxambela reports that two employees were sleeping inside the business premises when they heard a noise on the roof.

“The two acted quickly and called the owner of the business. The suspects opened the roof, and all three went inside the business premises. They seized cash amounting to R3800 and six boxes of cigarettes.”

While the robbery was ongoing, a security vehicle arrived on the scene. Two of the suspects climbed back onto the roof and fired three shots at the security guard.

“The security guard was wounded on his foot. The two suspects managed to flee the scene while one suspect was arrested.

“We are investigating a case of business robbery and attempted murder. The arrested suspect will appear at the Vanderbijlpark Magistrate’s Court.”

Boipatong SAPS station commander, Lieutenant Colonel Puleng Mokoena congratulated all who were involved in apprehending the suspect.

Mokoena further warned criminals to think twice before coming to the Boipatong policing precinct to commit a crime.
