Police carry out a successful Operation Shanela

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, police spokesperson Nthabiseng Mokhachane disclosed that the police successfully apprehended 15 suspects at a roadblock on Moshoeshoe Road.

SEBOKENG. – The law enforcement officers from 14 police stations in the Sedibeng District recently intensified efforts to combat crime in the Sebokeng area through Operation Shanela.

Key stakeholders involved in this operation include the Community Policing Forum (CPF), the Department of Home Affairs, Siyabangena patrollers, and the Gauteng Traffic Department.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, police spokesperson Nthabiseng Mokhachane disclosed that the police successfully apprehended 15 suspects at a roadblock on Moshoeshoe Road.

These individuals were arrested for various offenses such as selling liquor without a valid license, lacking proper documentation, and vending illicit cigarettes. Additionally, stop-and-search operations were conducted.

Furthermore, a community engagement session was conducted, during which officers addressed the public on issues such as alcohol and drug abuse, Gender-based Violence (GBV), vehicle-related crimes, and areas of concern.

Information pamphlets containing comprehensive details on these topics along with contact information were distributed to the attendees.

Brigadier Sibongile Ndaba, the Overall Commander and Vereeniging police station commander, expressed gratitude to the members for their ongoing dedication to ensuring the safety of all residents.

Members of the community are encouraged to continue collaborating with the police by participating in patrols and actively engaging with the CPF. They can also provide information anonymously through the My SAPS App.
