UAT promises service delivery

"The service delivery in the Vaal is inadequate, with people grappling with poverty, landlessness, and contaminated water."

SEDIBENG. – The race to the local elections is heating up by the day as yet another political party has entered the fray.

With its leader, Dr. Bantu Wonder Mahlatsi, born in the Vaal and a former pupil at Fundulwazi Secondary School in Zone 12, Sebokeng, the United African Transformation (UAT) party asserts that it is a Pan-African party aiming to transform the lives of black people for the better.

Mahlatsi, the President of UAT, holds a PhD and identifies as a Pan-African. He describes himself as a ‘people’s person’, hailing from humble beginnings as the son of a domestic worker and a taxi driver, raised in Sebokeng. Mahlatsi highlights his extensive career in law enforcement and volunteering programs aimed at assisting impoverished black communities, expressing optimism about UAT’s performance in both national and provincial elections.

“As a son of the river, we also aim to excel in the Vaal. I would like to introduce the Vaal community to a new Pan-African party boasting over 50,000 members and already aiding the most underprivileged nationwide. UAT is registered with the IEC and will be contesting both national and provincial elections.”

UAT was founded in 2022, with twenty branches already launched.

“The service delivery in the Vaal is inadequate, with people grappling with poverty, landlessness, contaminated water, lack of township economic planning, and high rates of crime and drug abuse. The Vaal also faces ongoing environmental concerns, particularly water pollution resulting from a deteriorating sewer network.”

UAT pledges to prioritise the Sedibeng sewer scheme to unlock socio-economic opportunities, repair infrastructure, reform tender processes to create employment, clean the Vaal River, maintain parks, and develop a new township economy.

Mahlatsi further revealed that during door-to-door campaigning in the area, they encountered households headed by children living in deplorable conditions in shacks.

“We are already fundraising for these families. UAT is self-funded by its members.”
