Gauteng matrics awarded GCRA bursary

The top 100 were recently announced during a celebratory event held at the Ingwe Guest Lodge in Vanderbijlpark.

VANDERBIJLPARK. – The future looks bright for the top 100 Gauteng 2023 matric cohort who worked tirelessly and diligently, securing the award of a full living expense bursary from the Schools Star Programme in partnership with the Gauteng Provincial Government (GPG).

Schools Star has been designed and created in partnership with the GPG to form part of the solution, promoting collaboration among private and public sectors, with the goal of economic success and better prospects for the youth.

The top 100 were recently announced during a celebratory event held at the Ingwe Guest Lodge in Vanderbijlpark. The Schools Star Programme, founded by BlackBark Productions in conjunction with the Gauteng City Region Academy, identified the most adaptable, curious, resilient Grade 12 learners across Gauteng.

Among the beneficiaries announced at the ceremony were tens of students hailing from various schools in the Vaal Triangle. These schools include Thuto-Tiro Comprehensive School, Setjhaba Sohle Secondary School, Jet Nteo School of Specialisation, Botebo Tsebo Secondary School, Tharabollo Secondary School, and more.

Carla Diedericks from the Schools Star Programme says: “From almost thousands of applicants, we identified the most promising Top 500 based on curiosity, adaptability, learning agility, growth mindset change, resilience, and connectedness.

Upon reaching the top 500, Schools Star assisted the learners with their tertiary applications, providing consultancy and even paying their application fees.

After a secondary assessment, Schools Star identified the top 100 Grade 12’s of 2023. All these Grade 12’s receive a full living expense bursary to the institution of their choice, sponsored by the Gauteng Province (GCRA).”
