SHARPEVILLE.- No doubt, Lesogo Moholo (11) seems to be destined to follow in the footsteps of greater boxers this region has produced in the past.
Sedibeng formerly, Vaal Triangle produced boxing champions in the past such as Carlton “Swing Carlie” Monnakgotla, Shole “Tiger Floor Mokoena, Baby Lux Khambule, Shamba Mthimkulu, Aaron Kabi, the list is endless.
Sedibeng Ster Sport caught up with this young boxer from Sharpeville to hear what his plans are with boxing. His coach Shadymore Masvosva described him as the best fighter of his age. Masvosva said out of five fights, he has won 3 and lost 2 of them.
‘The boy has the potential to go far with boxing and I’m happy that even his father is encouraging him to take boxing seriously. Lesego is one of the boys that I believe can go far with this sport if he does not give up on his dreams because we know at ‘their age’ they are easily discouraged by many things,” said Masvosva.
Lesego speaks to Sedibeng Ster Sport:
Q: What inspired you to become a boxer?
A: I love this sport and my friends have always encouraged me to join Sharpeville Boxing Club because they are also boxers.
Q: Where do you want to see yourself in the future?
A: I want to become a world boxing champion and I work very hard to make my dream true. My coach has always pushed me very hard at training. He told me if I want to become anything in life I must work hard.
Q: Where do you attend school and what grade are you doing?
A: I’m attending school at Kgomoco Primary School in Sharpeville and I’m doing grade 7.
Q: Who is your favourite boxer, that you look up to as your role model?
A: Bongani Mahlangu is my inspiration because despite being a professional boxer, he comes to watch us when it is a tournament. This motivates us as upcoming boxers to see someone like him watching us when we fight.
