Armstrong filling station bombed

SEBOKENG – An armed gang launched a daring attack on the Armstrong Garage situated on Moshoeshoe Road in the early hours of Monday morning, February 12.

The audacious robbery saw the detonation of two Automatic Teller Machines (ATMs), one located within the filling station’s convenience store and the other positioned outside.

Residents were awakened from their sleep by the deafening sound of explosives as the armed men brazenly executed their plan.

Eyewitnesses reported scenes of chaos and confusion as the gang swiftly carried out their robbery before fleeing the scene with an undisclosed amount of money obtained from one of the ATMs.

Confirming the incident, Sebokeng police spokeswoman Sergeant Nthabiseng Mokhachane provided details of the attack.

“Sebokeng SAPS hereby confirms that a case of ATM bombing was opened following the incident at Engen garage in Zone 12, Moshoeshoe Street,” she said.

Mokhachane further added that the bombing marked the second incident within the Sebokeng precinct in February 2024 alone.

In response to this brazen act of criminality, law enforcement authorities have launched an investigation and are appealing to the public for any information that may assist in apprehending the perpetrators.
