SEBOKENG.- “It was talent displayed when young boxers exchanged punches during the Sedibeng Boxing Tournament.
This amateur boxing tournament which was organised under the auspices of Sedibeng Boxing Organisation and Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) Sports Department took place at Saul Tsotetsi Sports Centre in Zone 14< Sebokeng on Saturday.
Thanduxolo Madikizela from ELM Sports Department hailed this event as a great success with a positive response from the local boxing clubs. Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Madikizela said the tournament went according to their plan.
He said that he was encouraged by the attendance of the boxing clubs as far as from Orange Farm and in Sedibeng. The day’s programs started at 13:00 after the organisers completed the weight-weighing process from the morning. It was an exchange of fists with boys and girls showcasing their God-given talent.
“It was a day well spent watching these boys and girls fighting. I was overwhelmed by the positive response from the clubs even though I was disappointed with the support of parents. My only disappointment was the lack of support from parents but other than that the tournament was a great success. As the ELM Sports Department our role is to support such initiatives in our community. We want to see every child being involved in sporting activities within the community and there will be less crime,” said Madikizela.
