Diski Challenge’s eight goals thriller

No one anticipated this kind of score taking into consideration how the game started.

SEDIBENG.- Local soccer fans witnessed top-notch football with Sekhukhune United coming back from 2-0 down to beat hapless Swallows ‘babies’ 6-2 in the DSTV Diski Challenge at Isak Steyl Stadium in Vanderbijlpark on Saturday.

However, no one anticipated this kind of score taking into consideration how the game started with Swallows taking a 2-0 lead 20 minutes into play. At this stage, Swallows looked in control of the game. Sekhukune United had to dig deep to come back in the game with Keletso Sifama who is on a three-year loan from Kaizer Chiefs scored a cracker from outside the eighteen area.

It was a great individual’s goal to make the score 2-1.

It was Sifama who leveled matters from the penalty spot to make it 2-2. At this stage, it was game on with United all over Swallows. The game went to interval with United leading 3-2 after they scored a brilliant goal outside the eighteen area.

It was a beauty, click, click bang!

United began where they left off in the first half as they continued to attack Swallows from all angles of the field in the second half. It was goal after goal with United enjoying the freedom of the park toying around with Swallows who never offered any resistance.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, after the game, United Coach Paul Masehe, said that he was impressed with his team’s response after they conceded two goals in the short space of 15 minutes.

“It was a lesson learned from our boys to take their chances because we could have scored before our opponents scored against us. It was a wake-up call because after Swallows scored, then we started to play with a purpose.”

“I’m happy with how we play as a team and moving the ball over the field playing from the back, in the middle and final third. We have been doing this at training and today I must say our boys were at another level,” said Masehe after the game.
