YCLSA members meet at their ’20th Re-establishment’

The ‘20th Re-establishment’ was also marked by a series of other activities such as a  conference, and ceremonial visits to the Boipatong and Sharpeville heritage sites.

VANDERBIJLPARK.- The Young Communist League of South Africa (YCLSA) met for its ordinary National Committee plenary session at the Vaal University of Technology (VUT) from December 11 to 15.

The plenary session was dedicated to celebrating the 20th Anniversary of YCLA’s relaunch in 2003 at VUT. The ‘20th Re-establishment’ was also marked by a series of other activities such as a  conference, and ceremonial visits to the Boipatong and Sharpeville heritage sites.

The National Committee also paid homage to YCLA member Bongane Mokoena who died in an accident early December, by paying a visit to his family.

YCLSA National Secretary- Mzwandile Thakhudi said that the activities were themed per the National Committee resolution: Mobilize, Educate and Agitate the Youth for Socialism.

“This marked a significant turning point in the organization’s history, reawakening a militant and radical youth voice that continues to fight for socialism.”

The meeting received Political Input from the SACP Politburo Secretary for Policy and Research and National Spokesperson Alex Mashilo. The Symposium received numerous Presentations by SACP 15th Congress Central Committee members including Politburo Secretary for Gender Transformation Dr Reneva Fourie, and Politburo Assistant Secretary for Organizing and Campaigns Tinyiko Ntini.

The YCLSA National Secretary delivered the 20th Reestablishment anniversary statement, and the ceremony was closed by the SACP General Secretary, Solly Mapaila. The meeting also took place a week after the country was observing 16 days of activism against children and women abuse.
