BOPHELONG. – Gogo Martha Lunga (103) who was recently celebrated by her family, friends, and members of the community on her birthday last month has sadly passed away. Lunga died on Sunday, December 03.

Itumeleng Lunga described her grandmother as strict and funny. “My granny loved doing right and encouraged others to do right. She encouraged us to be humble, respectful, and persistent. I’m grateful to have been fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to live with someone like my granny.

“She instilled a lot of morals and values in me. I am proud to be the person that I am because of her. We were saddened by the fact that she had passed on. We were devastated by the news of her death because she meant a lot to us. I will always remember how she carried us and always gave us the hope that everything will be alright.”

Neighbour and family friend Ntjantja Mosia says she will always remember Mase as someone who had a great love for people and loved bringing the community together.

“She is the first woman to bring the women living on this street together to make a change in the community by forming a social club.

“Gogo’s death left a big void. She was loved by all of us, and she returned the same love. She taught me that giving back and contributing to the community is important. She was an anchor of our community. We will never forget her contribution to this community.”
