Former Vaal Pros prolific striker passes on

South African Masters and Legends Football Association (SAMLFA) Provincial Deputy Chairman, Love Moremi, said they have lost a soldier.

EVATON.-  The Sedibeng football fraternity is mourning the passing of the former Vaal Professional Striker, Johannes “Satch” Modise (77).

Modise, who passed on yesterday, was one of the best strikers this country ever produced in the 70s and was part of the South African Eleven playing alongside great players such as Kaizer “Chencha Guluva” Motaung.

Not long ago, former Vaal Professional and Kaizer Chiefs defender Simon “Bull” Lehoko told Sedibeng Ster Sport how Modise joined Vaal Professionals. One of the outstanding memories for Modise was when he scored a hattrick for Vaal Professionals against Kaizer Chiefs at Boipatong.

Modise leaves behind his wife, Alina, and two children.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, South African Masters and Legends Football Association (SAMLFA) Provincial Deputy Chairman, Love Moremi, said they have lost a soldier in Modise. Moremi said that Modise was a loyal member of SAMLFA Sedibeng until his last day.

“As SAMLFA we want to send our sincere condolences to the Modise family. Bra Satch was one of the best strikers this country produced in the late 70s. It came as no surprise when he was selected for the South African Eleven team”, said Moremi.

Modise will be buried on Sunday and the funeral service will take place at Muti House Complex. The funeral service will start at 7:00.
