Potso continues to make Vaal proud

Despite her contribution to African football, especially women's football, her region (Sedibeng) is struggling to produce a professional football club.

BOPHELONG.- Despite not having a professional football in the top flight football, Vaal is always represented at the highest level of football.

Potso Mohami from Bophelong was one of the General Coordinators for the CAF Women’s Champions League hosted by Ivory Coast. This Women’s Champions League came to an end on Saturday, with Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies crowned the champions. This was after they beat Sporting Club Casablanca 3-0 in the final to be crowned the African Queens.

This well-traveled football administrator continues to hoist Vaal’s flag high making a name for herself in continental football. She joined SAFA at an early age and she has ‘been there and done it’ representing this organisation at the highest level of football.

Her journey in continental football started in 2021 when she was part of the CAF delegates for the same tournament, the CAF Women’s Champions League held in Egypt, little did she know that the door of opportunities would be opening for her in continental football.

Despite her contribution to African football, especially women’s football, her region (Sedibeng) is struggling to produce a professional football club. Not only a professional football club but also Banyana Banyana players. It has been years now since Vaal has had a representative in the Banyana Banyana team since the days of the likes of Rose “Pona” Jijane.

To make it interesting, Mohami started at SAFA doing internships and one of her duties was in the 2010 World Cup when she was part of the Local Organising Committee serving under the former President Dr Molefi Oliphant.

She is following in the footsteps of legendary football administrators such as Oliphant, Sipho Nkumane, and the late Zacharia Masetle who made a name for themselves in South Africa and globally from this region.
