District Commissioner praise police efforts in crime crackdown

Sedibeng police commissioner applauded members of Public Order Police for continue to combat crime in the region.

SEDIBENG – Sedibeng Public Order Police (POPs) continues to make significant strides in combating crime within the district.

District Commissioner Major General Nkhensani Lemba has applauded the relentless efforts of POPS for their dedication to ensuring the safety of Sedibeng residents.

On Monday, November 13, while conducting random patrols near the Shell filling station in Sebokeng Unit 06, POPS members spotted a white VW Polo carrying four male occupants.

Sensing suspicion, the officers decided to take action, stopping the vehicle to conduct a thorough search.

According to Captain Teboho Lephoto, spokesperson for the Sedibeng police, the search yielded substantial results.

“A fully loaded firearm, live rounds of ammunition, multiple cellphones, and other items suspected to be stolen were uncovered. Swiftly, all occupants of the vehicle were apprehended on the spot and transported to Sebokeng Saps for custody,” he said.

Lephoto said a case has been opened, charging the suspects with possession of an illegal firearm/ammunition and possession of suspected stolen property.

Major General Lemba commended the POPS members for their proactive approach to maintaining the safety of Sedibeng.

She encouraged the officers to persist in their commendable efforts and called on the community to collaborate with the police in the ongoing fight against crime. The District Commissioner stressed the significance of a united front between law enforcement and citizens to ensure that criminals face the full consequences of their actions.
