Man fatally wounded in shooting

A family is reeling after their 33-year-old son was gunned down recently.

SEBOKENG. – 33-year-old Tumelo Mofokeng was shot multiple times while sitting on the veranda where he was listening to music at his home in Zone 14. The incident happened on Friday, November at around 19:00.

His family was left reeling following the incident. His mother Mampeile Mofokeng said that she and her husband were watching the news when the incident happened.

“We heard gunshots outside and did not think that they were close. After a while, we saw smoke coming inside the house, and that is when we rushed outside to see what was happening.

“We found Tumelo with a gun wound to his head. I was not brave enough to inspect his body any further but when authorities arrived, they found more gun wounds on his body.”

Describing her son, Mampeile said that he was often quiet and shied away from speaking his mind.

“Tumelo did not speak much. You would see that he was upset but he would never say it. He did not have many friends and spent most of his time sitting in the house or on the Veranda where he would play his music. As a family, we really don’t know what happened.”

Asked how she will remember her son, Mampeile said that he loved fashion, and that is how they will always remember him.

Tumelo’s uncle, Abel Phadi said his nephew was humble and respectful. “I always asked him when he would get married and he always laughed and said he would send me to pay lobola for him when the time is right.”

Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo confirmed that a murder case docket was opened for investigation by sebokeng police.
