Gallants and University of Pretoria share the spoils

The game started on a high tempo with both teams attacking each other from the start until the last whistle.

SEDIBENG.- It was action galore at Isak Steyl Stadium in Vanderbijlpark on Friday and Saturday.

The action started on Friday afternoon with Platinum City Rovers hosting Black Leopards in the Motsepe Foundation Championship fixture. It was the home team that collected the maximum points after they beat the visitors, in this case Black Leopards, 1-0.

However, the results are not the true reflection of the game as Black Leopards were all over the home team but failed to convert their chances into goals. Leopards dominated the better part of the proceeding but were let down by a poor finish-up by their frontmen.

Rovers didn’t have much to do but managed to walk away with three crucial points to improve their position in the log. In the other Motsepe Foundation Championship fixture, Marumo Gallants and the University of Pretoria shared the spoil when these two teams played to a goalless draw.

The game started on a high tempo with both teams attacking each other from the start until the last whistle. There was action galore from both sides of the field and the University of Pretoria could have taken a lead a few minutes in the second half but was denied by City Rovers’ brave goalkeeping to keep the score line 0-0.

Gallants made some great entrance in Rovers’ final third but poor decision-making saw their forward men, either heading the ball over the poles or going wide. It was a game of missed chances from both teams as if their strikers left their scoring boots in the dressing rooms.

Meanwhile, NB La Masia hosts the relegated Maritzburg United in another much-awaited Motsepe Foundation Championship encounter at Isak Steyl Stadium in Vaal on Friday afternoon.

Kick-off time is at 15:30.
