MEYERTON – A shocking and violent incident occurred in Meyerton on Tuesday, November 7, leaving one person dead and another injured in a brazen daylight attack.

Eyewitnesses at the scene reported that two African males ambushed a duo sitting inside a white BMW at the Caltex Garage, opening fire on the vehicle’s passenger side before fleeing the scene on foot.

Police were swiftly called to the scene, where they found two occupants inside the car.

The driver was wounded, while the passenger, a 55-year-old male, tragically lost his life as a result of the attack.

Despite drizzling showers, scores of onlookers braved the weather with umbrellas, witnessing medics attend to the lifeless body of the deceased and police investigate the scene.

“Our station received a call about a shooting incident that happened at Caltex filling station at the corner of Johan Le Roux and Meyer Road. Upon arrival, police found two African males inside a BMW motor vehicle, wounded,” she said.

Moloi confirmed that the injured driver of the vehicle was promptly transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

However, the passenger, regrettably, did not survive the attack.

“The motive behind this shocking incident remains unclear, and the Meyerton police are actively investigating it as a murder and attempted murder case,” she added.
