Matric pupil’s life cut short ahead of final exams

A case of culpable homicide was since opened following the death of a grade 12 pupil from Residensia Secondary School.

SEBOKENG – The community of Sebokeng is grappling with grief following the tragic death of a young pupil from Residensia Secondary School.

A promising Grade 12 pupil had his life abruptly cut short just a week before his examinations were scheduled to begin on Monday.

The 17-year-old learner – who has not yet been identified – met a harrowing fate on a seemingly ordinary Tuesday morning, October 24.

As the sun cast its soft morning glow, the young man was fatally struck by a speeding taxi while jumping the busy Moshoeshoe Road, making his way to school.

The heart-wrenching accident has left the community in mourning, and the shockwaves of this tragedy echo through the corridors of the school.

Sebokeng police have officially confirmed the incident, shedding light on the grim details surrounding the accident.

A case of culpable homicide has been opened, as authorities work tirelessly to investigate the circumstances that led to this devastating loss.

Captain Teboho Lephoto, the spokesperson for Sedibeng Cluster police said “We confirm that the case of Culpable Homicide was registered by us Sebokeng Saps, where it is alleged that a grade 12 learner from Residensia Secondary School was hit by a taxi while crossing the road and died on the scene. The police were called, as well as paramedics who declared him dead on the scene. The body was later taken to a government mortuary. The investigation is ongoing.”

Gauteng Department of Education had not commented at the time of publishing this article.
