D7 hosts Public Speaking and Indigenous Games

The key mandate is social mass participation and social cohesion.

SEDIBENG.- The Sedibeng East District (D7) in conjunction with the Department of Sports, Arts, Culture, and Recreation (SACR) hosted Public Speaking and Indigenous Games respectively at Tshepiso Library and Curro Academy last Friday and Saturday.

These activities are part of the D7  activities where every learner must participate in the activities. Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, the D7 Senior Education Specialist Youth, and Culture, Thabang Letlaka said these activities are part of the D7 schools’ Wednesday programme. He told Sedibeng Ster that they hosted these programs in partnership with libraries and the Department of SACR.

He further told Sedibeng Ster that those two programs that took place on Friday and Saturday are part of the ongoing D7 schools program where every child is encouraged to participate in school activities.

“The two programs are part of our integrated program whereby we say every child must play. Not every child can be a doctor or scientist, every child must play so that cannot be engaged in social ills. The key mandate is social mass participation and social cohesion advocacy, no matter whether white or black, we must play together. We do this to coordinate activities with the education support system,” said Letlaka.

He revealed to Sedibeng Ster that they will be hosting School Enrichment Awards where they will be awarding learners who excel in academic and sporting activities. These awards are scheduled to take place at Vaal Technorama in Vereeniging on 27 October.
