Teixeira attends Small Business Indaba (SBI)

The SBI Indaba convened more than 130 small business owners, Business Chambers, and other stakeholders.

MIDVAAL.- Midvaal’s Executive Mayor, Peter Teixeira, attended the Small Business Institute (SBI) Indaba to give an account of the impact a functional municipality has on small businesses this week.

The SBI Indaba convened more than 130 small business owners, Business Chambers, and other stakeholders from across the country, for engaging and informative discussions. The SBI is dedicated to ensuring that small and medium-sized businesses receive support through thoughtful, evidence-based policies.

Furthermore, the SBI’s vision involves identifying collaborative opportunities for small businesses in both the private and public sectors, with the goal of enhancing access to markets and facilitating effective entry into supply chains. During his keynote address, Teixeira emphasised the crucial role of SMMEs by stating the following:

“Small, Medium, and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs) as the backbone of our nation’s economy. SMMEs are pivotal for economic growth and reducing unemployment rates. Our administration understands that supporting local businesses, hiring locally, and working within our community empowers our municipality.”

Teixeira’s presence reaffirmed Midvaal’s commitment to positioning itself as the premier investment destination in Gauteng.

“We understand that revitalising our stagnant economic growth and reducing unemployment requires more than government efforts alone. To succeed, we must foster collaboration with the private sector, empowering small and medium-sized enterprises (SMMEs) to create opportunities that will drive the growth of our local economy. Midvaal will continue to seek collaborative opportunities with businesses, industries, and the retail sector to stimulate economic growth within the region.”
