International exchange students land on Vaal shores

Two youngsters arrived in the Vaal to study in Vanderbijlpark schools through an exchange programme.

VANDERBIJLPARK – The Vaal region has recently welcomed two young international students, Giuditta Grosso (17) from Italy and Frédéric Mischo (16) from Germany.

Aged 17, these ambitious teenagers have embarked on a unique academic journey to study in the heart of South Africa, right in Vanderbijlpark.

Since their arrival, the duo has been immersing themselves in the vibrant culture and breathtaking natural beauty of the African continent.

Grosso and Mischo have set out to experience the local wildlife and the majestic landscapes that South Africa has to offer.

The duo recently shared their thrilling experiences with Ster South in a frank “tell-it-all” interview, offering insights into what inspired them to choose South Africa for their academic pursuits.

Grosso hailing from Italy, shared a similar love for the wild and a deep fascination with African culture.

Her decision to study in South Africa was also influenced by her desire to immerse herself in a new way of life

Grosso who has since arrived two months ago, said “I came on the 11th of August. I chose South Africa because this part of the world is different and has a diverse insight to other countries I have been to.”

Grosso said she has visited different game reserves and sanctuaries in the country since her arrival.

“I have enjoyed my stay in South Africa so far. I visited a number of places, saw different wild animals and I must say the places here are very beautiful. I’ve been to Johannesburg Zoo, and Rosebank Market and seen all African collectives sold at the market,” she said.

Born in Namibia and later raised in Germany, Mischo shared his fascination with the diverse culture and stunning landscapes that South Africa boasts.

He expressed a keen interest in wildlife and conservation, a passion he’s had since a young age.

South Africa, home to many of the world’s iconic animals, seemed like the perfect place to foster this interest.

“I arrived two months ago and I have met different individuals with friendly hearts. Made a number of friends and enjoyed my stay. I’ve been to a nature reserve with beautiful nature and animal sanctuaries to see a close look at wildlife.”

Counting his next birthday in August next year, Mischo said “My stay in SA will be long and I am going to be spending my first birthday outside my country. I am looking forward to learning how this country operates and experience all the good things.”
