No money seized in double ATM bombing

The police say no money was seized during a double ATM bombing that happened in the early hours of Tuesday morning, 17 October.

SHARPEVILEE. – The community of Sharpeville woke up to scenes of two bombed ATMS on Tuesday morning, 17 October. The incident happened in the early hours of the morning in Seeiso Street.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, police spokesperson Captain Fikile Funda confirmed the incident, adding that the Sharpeville police received a complaint regarding an ATM bombing at around 01:20 and subsequently rushed to the scene.

“On arrival at the scene, our members found ADT Security on the scene. The security pointed out two ATMs that had been bombed.

“Our members were also shown that by the security that no money was seized during the bombing.”

Funda says police are investigating a case of malicious damage to property and contravention of the explosives act 26 of 1956.
