G4S security guard shot and killed during CIT heist

The police have launched a manhunt after a security guard was shot and killed during a CIT heist in Orange Farm.

ORANGE FARM. – A G4S security guard was shot multiple times during a Cash-In-Transit (CIT) heist in Orange Farm. The incident happened on Wednesday, 11 October.

Police Spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe reports that a manhunt is underway for the armed robbers who managed to flee the scene with an undisclosed amount of money.

Mathe says: “Two G4S security guards were collecting cash at a Cash Build Hardware when they were accosted by the suspects.
“It is reported that one of the security guards went inside the premises to collect cash and was suddenly pointed with a firearm by a suspect inside the building.”

Mathe states that during the brawl, the suspect shot the security guard three times, on the leg, left arm, and in the head.
“The suspect then took a full bag of cash from the deceased and fled the scene.”

Mathe reports that another suspect who was outside the building, armed with an AK-47 rifle started firing at the driver through the window of the cash vehicle.

“The driver managed to drive away from the scene uninjured. The suspects subsequently fled the scene in a white VW Polo sedan with no registration.”
Mathe adds that the Sedibeng Flying Squad, K9, and TRT were activated on all exit routes in a manhunt for the suspects.

Police are investigating a case of murder, robbery and attempted murder.
