Sedibeng community ‘democracy needs you’: BOSA

Thanks to the sacrifices and the bravery of active citizens of this country, who were unshaken by the old regime of Apartheid.

SEDIBENG.-  One-year-old Build One South Africa (BOSA) has called on the Sedibeng community to practice their democratic right by registering to vote for next year’s national elections.

BOSA Sedibeng Chairperson, Ernest Nkopane said that voting gives the community a chance to be a part of decision-making that affects their life on a daily basis and determines its future including that of the country. He adds that the reality is that ‘if you don’t vote’ then others who registered to vote and actually voted at the end, will make the decisions for you.

“Remember that democracy works better only if people participate and voting is an opportunity for change. Five years is a long time to be stuck with the same government that doesn’t serve the interest of its citizens,” Nkopane said.

BOSA, a fairly new political party intends to bring power back to the people and, Nkopane said, one way to achieve this is through collective participation to realize a thriving democracy, where people vote in large numbers and the people’s voice remains supreme.

“Firstly, not voting is giving up your voice. Elections are decided by people who go out and vote. You pay tax and that as well, guarantees your voice to decide or want to know how your taxes are spent, especially on issues such as social services, healthcare, education, and the importance of creating a job in every home, among others.”

Nkopane finally thanked the sacrifices and the bravery of active citizens of this country, who were unshaken by the old regime of Apartheid.

“That is the motivation why today we must soldier on and take the baton to BUILD, BUILD and BUILD. where the corrupt government of the day has been destroyed.”
