Brazen ATM bombing shakes Sebokeng filling station

Police in Sebokeng are investigating a case of ATM Bombing and Businesses Robbery following an overnight robbery at Global garage.

Sebokeng – A group of armed men stormed the Global garage in Sebokeng, Zone 10 during the early hours of Thursday, 05 October, in a brazen ATM bombing and business robbery.

Heavily armed with firearms and explosives, the gang held the station’s staff at ransom while carrying out a series of crimes.

Gunshots and bombings were the order of the morning as the gang continued with their thuggery.

The explosive blast not only damaged an Absa ATM machine but also sent shockwaves waking up the nearby residents.

Following the bombing, the perpetrators forcibly entered the station’s building and proceeded to empty the cash registers, making off with an undisclosed amount of money.

According to police spokesperson, Captain Teboho Lephoto, the incident happened at approximately 3 a.m.

“They first started bombing the ATM machine outside then proceeded inside the building and took the money from the tills. An undisclosed money was taken, and no suspects have been arrested at this stage. No fatalities were reported,” he said.

Lephoto expressed deep concern over the incident, urging the public to assist the police in bringing those responsible to justice.
