Vanderbijlpark valve repair to temporarily disrupt water services

Emfuleni Local Municipality warns of water disruptions in Vanderbijlpark following a leaking air valve.

VANDERBIJLPARK – Residents and businesses in Vanderbijlpark areas are advised to brace themselves for a temporary water supply interruption tonight, Tuesday, October 03.

The disruption follows an essential repair work carried out on a leaking air valve at the intersection of Faraday Blvd and Hertz Blvd.

In a proactive measure to ensure the reliability and safety of the city’s water infrastructure, Emfuleni Local Municipality authorities have scheduled an emergency repair operation that will necessitate a temporary shutdown of the water supply in the affected areas.

The maintenance work will commence at 20:00 and is expected to be completed by 00:00 (midnight).

Key Details of the Water Supply Interruption:

Affected Areas: The water supply will be temporarily cut off in the Central Business District (CBD), Commercial East (CE), and Commercial West (CW) areas.

Timing: The repair operation will commence at 20:00 and is expected to conclude by midnight.

Duration: Residents and businesses in the affected areas are urged to prepare for approximately four hours of water supply interruption during the specified timeframe.

Alternative Arrangements: In light of this temporary disruption, it is advisable for residents to store an adequate supply of water for essential needs during the outage.

ELM spokesman Makhosonke Sangweni said “The municipality wishes to apologies for the inconvenience and further encourages residents to always use water sparingly.”
