Dr Nhlapo ex-students meet and greet

The Boipatong-based primary school is named after Dr Nhlapho who is amongst the first black PhD graduates and it was established in 1955.

BOIPATONG. –  The recent gathering that was called for former Dr Nhlapo Primary School pupils in Boipatong was a success.

All former Dr Nhlapo learners, teachers, and School Governing Body (SGB) members were called to a meet and greet event that was held on the school’s grounds on Saturday, September 23.

The Boipatong-based primary school is named after Dr Nhlapho who is amongst the first black PhD graduates and it was established in 1955. The Dr Nhlapho School Alumni Steering Committee consisting of former learners, governing body, and management including senior learners who were the first learners in the establishment of the school has been mandated to take its former students through to the 70th Anniversary celebration in the year 2025.

It is for this reason that the gathering was called as a first step in shaping the road towards 2025 anniversary. The meeting was also meant to share ideas and take a mental journey through the journey the school has taken.

The proceedings of the day were opened by the current principal of the school Mr Mogoera who also ceremoniously opened the gates for the former pupils. The occasion was also blessed by the presence of former teacher, Mrs Morabe. Ponto Mbele who recently made his appearance in a local TV Drama ‘Nikiwe’ provided entertainment through his actors who staged a drama about the history of Boipatong.

“Thanks to the organizing committee for taking us through this journey. Also, we want to say thanks to former learner Archbishop Lennox Mzongwane for closing-off  the occasion with a prayer. We are looking forward to the year-ending occasion,” said Bongani Dhlamini, Project Manager
