Young philanthropist scoops Influential Woman Award

Karabo Ramathe's story serves as a reminder that age is no barrier to making a significant difference in the world.

STEELPARK – Karabo Ramathe shone brightly at the Big M Production Awards as she was bestowed with a highly desired Influential Woman Award.

The 24-year-old humanitarian’s momentous recognition not only celebrates her exceptional achievements at such a young age but also underscores her significant positive influence on her community.

Hailing from Steelpark, Ramathe, known for her tireless dedication to making a difference in the lives of those less fortunate, has become an inspiration of hope to many.

Her journey into generosity began at a remarkably young age when she was just 13, bringing about change to young and old.

Inspired by her own upbringing and a desire to create a better future for those around her, she founded the “Kaylisha M African Modeling” company.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster at her family home, the bubbly lady explained how she was chosen for the awards.

“I have an online portfolio of work that I do, so a lady from the awards reached out to me and told me how they are fascinated by my work and need me to be part of their awards as a nominee under the influential woman of the year.”

“Nominees moved from different categories according to how they are voted. I was part of the top 30, and as voting proceeded, I was moved to the top 12, that’s where I managed to get more votes and won,” she said.

Sharing her joy on winning the award, Ramathe said her hard work is finally paying off.

“I still can’t believe it, but trust that the award is the fruit of my hard work. I worked so much and sometimes I volunteer myself for no, I deserve the award. This encourages me to do more to change people’s lives and never give up,” she said.

Mother to Karabo, Nono Ramathe (60) said “I am very happy for my daughter and hope Karabo can motivate and influence others to do great. I hope this award doesn’t end in my home, but other families receive it for doing good.”

“We have supported Karabo from a young age with her desires. Not only did we channel her, but we were he cheer leaders, and seeing her making our family so proud, really lights up my heart,” said Mama-Ramathe.
