Top flight football is back in Vaal

Watching both sides attack each other from the first whistle was exciting.

SEDIBENG.-  It’s official, Platinum City Rovers and relegated Marumo Gallants will play their Motsepe Foundation Championship home games in Sedibeng.

These two sides used Isak Steyl Stadium in Vanderbijlpark for their home fixtures over the weekend, these two sides played to a goalless draw.

The local soccer fans came in numbers to watch this top-flight football even Sedibeng has no team in the Motsepe Foundation Championship. The results were not a true reflection of the game as both sides created enough scoring opportunities but failed to convert them into goals.

This is the same venue, Isak Steyl Stadium which was a happy hunting ground for Jomo Cosmos when they were promoted back to the top PSL three seasons ago but got relegated back to lower division.

Marumo will be home when they host Milford FC at the same venue, Isak Steyl Stadium on Saturday. Kick-off time is at 15:00.

Rovers Team Manager, Tlou Segolela confirmed to Sedibeng Ster Sport that they will play all their home games in Sedibeng. He told Sedibeng Ster Sport that, this venue is convenient for them in terms of travelling. Rovers will host Casric Stars at Isak Steyl Stadium in a midweek game, on 4 October.

Segolela said they appreciate the support they receive from Sedibeng soccer fans hence they play their home games in this region.

“Our aim is to gain promotion to the PSL at the end of the season. This is our objective to challenge the league come the end of the season,” said Segolela.
