VEREENIGING. – The man featured in the photograph is currently being sought by the police after allegedly failing to appear at the Vereeniging Regional Court in July.
According to Captain Fikile Funda, a police spokesperson, a warrant of arrest was subsequently issued on August 30.
Funda explains: “It is alleged that a domestic dispute occurred between the suspect and the victim. Furthermore, it is claimed that the accused physically assaulted the victim and coerced her into engaging in sexual intercourse against her will throughout the night.
The accused also restricted the victim’s movement by confining her in a bedroom until a relative of the victim arrived the following morning and persuaded the suspect to release her so she could go to work.”
The police have indicated that the last known whereabouts of the accused individual were in Elandsfontein, De Deur. There is reason to believe that he may have fled to the Limpopo Province.
