‘Jazz goes to the elders’ Charity Festival

"This outdoor jazz festival is part of us raising funds for the center because there is a lot that needs to be done here at the old-age home."

SHARPEVILLE.- The Vaal Echoes of Love, in conjunction with Sedibeng Jazz Foundation will host a Jazz Charity Festival on 1 October.

This was revealed to Sedibeng Ster by the Vaal Echoes of Love, an old-age home based in Sharpeville, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Sello Sehanka.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, Sehanka said this outdoor event is meant for charity purposes for the registered Non-Profitable Organization (NPO), adding that this event is also meant to promote a ‘homely living’ environment as much as possible for older persons residing at the old-age home, through entertainment, with familiar and popular music of the 19th and 20th Century to the elderly.

He further told Sedibeng Ster that another aim of the event is also to hold it in remembrance of promoting expression of reunification.

”We are appealing to the Sedibeng community especially Sharpeville people to come in numbers to support this initiative. We all know that load-shedding is something that troubles our country and with some of the money we will be raising on the day, we will be looking to improve our system in terms of electricity.

“Your support as a community will be highly appreciated to make this event a success and achieve our objective as an old-age home. I have no doubt that as a community you will come in big numbers to help us raise funds on the day,” said Sehanka.
